Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift that's why we call it present.

Hi guys, sorry been bad missing my daily dose of positive thoughts, I have had some personal issues to deal with and have just come to terms with things. But I am back and full of positivity once again. I wrote this as my facebook status, and a lot of people felt it put things into perspective so hope it does the same for you.

We spend hours if not years planning our future. Paying attention to each and every detail, trying our very best to make those plans become reality. Yet in only takes a split second for all our efforts to get thrown out the window. So embrace the living moment, the future will fall in to place when you live each day as your last.

Potential: the compass that give you directions

Competition is a catalyst for success.Competition compels one to strive for excellence. Competition disciplines and motivates. All sounds good ey, and it's true, after all without competition man would have never evolved. Sometimes it's easy to be bogged down on comparing ourselves to others and their achievements that we forget our own capacity and limitations.

I would like to share some of my life's experiences to illustrate my point. I am an aspiring medical student and last year I applied to study medicine, after a painful five month wait I had four rejections to my name. In all honesty I felt jealous of all those who didn't have the academic ability or the passion I had but still managed to secure a place. Trust me, I did not take it well to say the least. I cried for hours on end before I realised that it was my mistake for applying to the very top universities. Why did I apply... because I wanted to be considered elite and wanted to be in competition with the very best.
Daft, I know, but this was a much needed wake-up call. It made me realise that yes I was capable of becoming doctor, it did not mean that I had the ability to do it in the best university in the world.

Failure is hard and no icing is going to make it sweet. It's like telling an injured person that their wound is going to heal, the person probably knows this but damn the pain is still going to hurt. No motivational  chit chat is going to stop the pain but if you learn to use potential as your guidance, the healing process would be a lot quicker.

When you reach the very top, there won't be many people to compete with and this could realistically make you rather complacent. But again if you know you are capable of achieving more you will push yourself to go that extra mile.

Never let success define you nor failure defeat you. Learn to compete with yourself using your potential as the compass that gives you directions.

Health is wealth

Good health is a blessing. I have never appreciated the privilege of having a fully functioning body and mind. In our constant search for happiness we neglect that good health is key to having a fulfilling life. My father has  been poorly for the past 6 months and my frequent visits to the hospital have made me witness what happens when this amazingly designed body of ours deteriorates. I have seen disfigured faces to coma patients kept alive on life support.

It's incredible, how we forget to appreciate the being we are; this creation that we did not even create. Being healthy is not running for hours on the treadmill or spending fortunes on health supplements. It's nurturing your body naturally. I have no right to give you guidelines on how to lead your life but I can assure you that good health is sadly not a guarantee in life. The modern man is still vulnerable to diseases. Yes advancements in medicine have prolonged our lifespan, but still prevention is always better than cure. Make sure that you take time to look after yourself, this could be as simple as eating five a day or having your meals on time.

If you are in good health, then try your very best to keep it that way. If it isn't don't fret my friends, it's never too late to turn the tables. And hey, good health requires a healthy and happy mind. So fingers crossed just reading this blog has given you a helping hand.

One positive thought a day, will keep you alive all the way

Hi there,

It would be rude of me to start this blog without a quick introduction, so here is my hello. I am Kirush, an 18 year old with a bundle load of hope for humanity. This is not because I lead this immaculately perfect life, my positivity is the fruit of my failures, my losses and tragedies. The only thing that helped me survive the hard times was positive thinking... the belief that no matter how long the tunnel there will be light at the end. And I was not born with this useful quality, I acquired it from my family, friends and strangers.

One positive thought a day, will keep you alive all the way: every blogger need a cheesy catch line and here's mine. So this is it, I am going to be putting up one positive thought/experience each day and I am hoping that it will make you think. Even if you read something and think this is just a waste of time... you are still thinking :P
